How to Make Sauerkraut

Making your own sauerkraut is easy. All you need is some cabbage,  salt, and a container. That's it. I love making traditional foods like sauerkraut because it connects me to the timeless traditions around the world of people culturing vegetables to sustain health.
Naturally fermented foods (also called cultured foods) populate our gut flora with good, healthy microbes that are the backbone of our immune health.

In this video I take you through a step-by-step tutorial to make your own sauerkraut. In the video I'm using a few veggies rather than just cabbage. But you can make it with just cabbage alone. if you prefer to read recipes rather than watch videos, you can go to my written post for step-by-step instructions here.

At what point do you add the onions, garlic etc.?

Hi There! Everything is added at the same time – I chop cabbage and onions, garlic, etc all together, and mix it.

Amazing! I LOVE video tutorials! Thank you. ? There were free organic cabbages at Ellis’ today so I was really hoping you’d have a blog about sauerkraut. This was even better!
